Monthly DVD afternoon meeting at Willingdon

Topic: “Evolution: The Grand Experiment” Episode One: The Quest for an Answer (58 min, 2009)

About the author:

Dr. Carl Werner, MD graduated from the University of Missouri with distinction in biology (summa cum laude). He received his doctoral degree in medicine at the age of 23 and practices emergency medicine in St Louis. In his sophomore year of college, Dr. Carl Werner was challenged by a fellow classmate with these words: “I bet you can’t prove evolution.” Disturbed by his classmate’s somewhat poignant criticisms of the theory, Dr. Werner (a biology major at the time) pondered this conversation for some time. He, along with his wife, Debbie, travelled to seven countries over 14 years to visit museums and fossil dig sites and interview fossil experts to author Evolution: the Grand Experiment Vol. 1 and Living Fossils; Evolution the Grand Experiment Vol. 2.

In this DVD:

Darwin’s book on evolution admitted that “intermediate links” were “perhaps the most obvious and serious objection to the theory” of evolution. Darwin recognized that the fossils collected by scientists prior to 1859 did not correspond with his theory of evolution, but he predicted that his theory would be confirmed as more and more fossils were found. One hundred and fifty years later, “Evolution: The Grand Experiment” critically examines the viability of Darwin’s theory. This DVD coincides with the book of the same title. It clearly conveys how evolutionary theory fails on various levels. This episode documents many misleading museum displays, magazine article and television documentaries.
